Meet Brittany Zaninovich, a talented pastry chef and proud owner of Taste and Sea Cakery, a sweet little cottage bakery nestled away in the sunny coastal city of Oceanside, California. Since earning her certificate in baking and patisserie from the San Diego Culinary Institute in 2008, Brittany has been joyfully using her talents to whip up custom desserts that celebrate God’s goodness. Whether she’s designing elegant wedding cakes or playful, whimsical treats for parties, her passion shines through every sprinkle and swirl. Over the years, she’s had the absolute joy of serving everyone from celebrities to her favorite customers of all—children! Their wide-eyed wonder and excitement are her biggest inspiration. For Brittany, every cake and cupcake is more than just a dessert—it’s a ministry, a chance to bless others with sweetness and God’s love.
In 2014, Brittany made her dream come true by opening Taste and Sea Cakery, a name inspired by the beloved scripture, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” (Psalm 34:8). It’s her daily reminder that baking can be a joyful act of faith and love.
When she’s not busy in the kitchen, Brittany loves teaching baking and decorating to folks of all ages. She’s traveled to some unique places—like Christian Creativity Conferences—where she leads fun, faith-filled workshops. There, she encourages everyone to partner with God through prayer, declaring Scripture, and listening for His’s whispers about each ingredient and detail through every joyful step of baking and decorating. This wonderful mix of faith and creativity not only encourages those she teaches but also inspired her very first children’s book, Baking with Bailey: A Sprinkle-Doodle Surprise. It is crafted to share God’s love and creativity with young readers in a way that delights and inspires.
At home, Brittany is a proud mama to two lively little ones—with another bundle of joy on the way—who keep her life and kitchen full of laughter, love, and plenty of joyful chaos (and sprinkles!). Her heart and hands are always busy blending baking and storytelling to create meaningful, faith-filled books that spark imagination and help kids see the magic of inviting God into everyday moments. Through her work, Brittany hopes to nourish both the heart and the taste buds, baking up sweet memories that last a lifetime.
